Because no body is perfect, or all of them are, the only thing at stake this summer is feeling good about yourself in a swimsuit! And for that, a quick analysis of your morphology and the types of cuts and models that best flatter it could be useful. We tell you all about it in this article! 🙂
Different body types: which swimsuit is right for yours?
O-shaped morphology
Your body shape is quite homogeneous, and neither your shoulders nor your hips are particularly pronounced. You’re probably O-shaped!
To elongate your silhouette and give it more relief, opt for long swimsuits: mid-thigh shorts, long shorts (above the knee), or boardshorts.
A-shaped morphology
Your shoulders are not very prominent and remain in line with your bust. On the other hand, your well-developed hips are often noticeable. You have an A-shaped body!
The challenge is to highlight this asset, while balancing the overall silhouette so that it doesn’t steal the show from your upper body. We recommend you opt for medium to long models, whether for swim shorts or swim trunks.
V-shaped morphology
Do swimmers envy you for your shoulder-defined build, and your hip span is smaller than your upper body? Your morphology is V-shaped!
Show off your lower body with short, form-fitting styles such as swim trunks or swim briefs. If you’re not convinced, mid-thigh swimming shorts will give your pelvis a bit of volume.
H-shaped morphology
With the ends of your shoulders aligned with those of your hips, there’s no doubt about it: you’ve got an H-shaped body!
In this case, opt for short swimwear such as briefs, shorts and boxer shorts.

Play with cuts and patterns to slim the silhouette
For those of you who are desperate for a “summer body” but were a little late getting started, don’t panic! There are a few tricks you can use to ingeniously refine your figure, just by choosing the right swimsuit 😉
Patterns: the best slimming ally
Simple and effective, patterns are known to divert attention and create a “slimming” effect for the wearer. Quite the opposite of plain, even matte models, which emphasize the contours of your body. What’s more, patterns are ultra-trendy this year.
The Inderwear team recommends polka dots, stripes or floral prints, which are particularly must-have this season. And to find out more, take a look at our article detailing all the Spring-Summer 2024 trends: read the article.
Our favorites are the Proud Swim Briefs with their rainbow pattern, and the Vacay Swim Briefs with their distracting triangle motif. Andrew Christian also offers a wide range of patterned swimwear, such as the Miami Swim Shorts with their colorful ethnic influences.

The interplay of cuts and materials
Just like patterns, the cut or material of your swimsuit can be used to your advantage, creating optical effects or diverting attention.
Play with an asymmetrical detail, for example, as with the Pierre or Gaetan Swim Briefs from Rufskin. Barcode’s Yseule Swim Briefs also accentuate the waistline with their 2 closing knots. Note that “luminous” fabrics – iridescent, glittery or other – reflect light and therefore create more volume, unlike matte fabrics.
How to choose between the different types of men’s swimwear?
Thongs, briefs, boxer shorts, shorts – there’s no shortage of choice! But how do you choose among the multitude of cuts, shapes and brands?
Classic and timeless models
Fitted, often low-waisted and lined, swim briefs are a beach and pool classic. Athletic figures will be enhanced by this type of model, which will also delight vacationers in search of a perfect tan! Briefs come in a range of minimalist cuts. We’re particularly fond of bikini briefs and tanga briefs, with their low-cut thighs.
The twin of briefs, swim trunks are just as comfortable and flattering! They shape the body and emphasize the thighs, provide flawless support and are available in 1001 styles. Trunks or long, plain or patterned, with or without drawstring… the choice is yours 😉
Longer and fuller coverage models
For those of you with a chilly disposition, or just for a more casual look, swim shorts are just the thing. Adapt the length to your body type so that they flatter your figure and remain comfortable, and you’re all set!
A little bonus when an inner brief is integrated, for all-day comfort and support.
Boardshorts, which are generally fuller and longer, are also a must, especially as they’re so fashionable! Its cut makes it easy to wear as beachwear or for a stroll, so don’t hesitate to make clever combos with a t-shirt or tank top to look stylish in any situation 😉
Sexywear takes to the beach too
If you’re a fan of bolder and sexier cuts, you won’t be outdone! A growing number of brands are offering more and more crazy swimwear for men. You’ll find a wide range of swim bodysuits, tops and skirts in water-resistant materials. Swim briefs can also be replaced by swim thongs. Tanned buttocks guaranteed! !
